Where I'm from, we were bombarded ...Absolutely. Where I'm from, we were bombarded with flyers from people with several children (sometimes they have names and ages) and wives/husbands (also I don't care how many years you've been married). This is *completely irrelevant*. If Helen Clark had to mention her marital status it would go something like "I prefer civil unions to the institution of marriage and have no children or a desire to have children." And I bet you next to "I'm Joanna and I live with my darling husband of 22 years and our three teenage daughters, and two dogs as well" she wouldn't get any votes, despite the fact that she may be far more competent than the latter.

Until "I'm a homosexual involved in several polyamorous relationships" is deemed equally irrelevant by the voters, I'm not giving my vote to people who that card. They're encouraging an unfair culture.notafeministhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00205186654218357996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-89243625001883678022010-11-01T16:18:32.340+13:002010-11-01T16:18:32.340+13:00Fran, the norm certainly isn't heterosexual tw...Fran, the norm certainly isn't heterosexual two kid marriage, let alone high-income-reliant hobbies.DPF:TLDRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06372937855256319716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-48017067808368366832010-11-01T09:33:49.785+13:002010-11-01T09:33:49.785+13:00fran, they can pander as much as they like. that d...fran, they can pander as much as they like. that doesn't mean we should encourage that kind of thing by voting for them; nor does it mean they should be immune to criticism for taking that approach. hamilton's new mayor has no children, and while it was mentioned in the media, thankfully nothing much was made of it. it's totally irrelevant.stargazerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00430290445762377335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-29566334039681748202010-11-01T08:19:08.273+13:002010-11-01T08:19:08.273+13:00I don't think it's wise to think about it ...I don't think it's wise to think about it too deeply. There's a risk of over-analyzing things. The reality is that politicians are going to do whatever it takes to get votes. If that means adopting/embracing the norm then that's what it takes.

If the norm was childless homosexual partnerships with zero kids then the candidates will pander towards that demographic.

- FranAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
