Many feminists require that you maintain active consent throughout, not merely "she's not fighting back, so it's ok".Moznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-7864912798027694512011-06-30T04:18:52.367+12:002011-06-30T04:18:52.367+12:00Wow now that's interesting thank you for posti...Wow now that's interesting thank you for posting itdebt reliefhttp://www.nationwidedr.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-61823567262767031992011-06-30T01:30:35.589+12:002011-06-30T01:30:35.589+12:00Moz... And even more people will admit to having been raped if you don't call it that. This is where a lot of the consent discussions fall apart, since it's not clear that the definition of "consent" used can meaningfully be applied to both (all) parties in a sex act, or whether the sex would still be worthwhile if it did.

And then there's "letting go" during sex rather than asking "have you ever been unaware of whether your partner still consented to sex". This is the point where the wheels fall off for just about everyone - if you're never, ever allowed to stop questioning even for a second whether your partner is still consenting, it's actually quite hard to orgasm for most people. Being ready to stop instantly at any time is just too distracting.Moznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-88470631309326248812011-06-29T17:08:26.022+12:002011-06-29T17:08:26.022+12:00As a guy who struggles with expressing to other gu...As a guy who struggles with expressing to other guys about things like rape culture, I really appreciate the 'rapist's aren't freaks, they're the people we know' sentiment. I think that's really important.

I read a discussion on Reddit today from a young woman whose boyfriend had refused to stop halfway during sex. She wanted to know if this was rape, which it of course was, and it was clear that even this woman (let alone the boyfriend) struggled to accept the idea.

Wasn't there also a study recently that showed that more men would admit to coercing women into sex as long as it wasn't called rape? The Megapopehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15127036057462975805noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-68761055546154715432011-06-29T12:41:37.192+12:002011-06-29T12:41:37.192+12:00Strypey sounds like a real douchebag.Strypey sounds like a real douchebag.Acid Queenhttp://www.shakesville.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-70218300015915661632011-06-29T12:09:36.850+12:002011-06-29T12:09:36.850+12:00Maia, with the sound system idea I did see a pic o...Maia, with the sound system idea I did see a pic of a wheelie bin sound system at the march. In Sydney we've had reasonable success with linking a couple of those together (you need to elevate them, but Sydney has a lot of stairs for that). Wheelie Bin systems are pretty cheap to build and there's obviously someone in Welly that knows how. Perhaps you could track them down?Moznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-7215675463250640962011-06-29T11:32:44.153+12:002011-06-29T11:32:44.153+12:00Thanks Maia, for the feedback and for linking to m...Thanks Maia, for the feedback and for linking to my post re: organisation.

Everything I've gotten back about Slutwalk has been invaluable, your input is no exception.padgphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11012939618565347195noreply@blogger.com
