I think someone else has written that they doubt the Urewera 8 will receive that kind of support.

While I'd be outraged if Right to Life got away with something like that, I'd also be pretty upset if they tried it on and got done for it regardless, on behalf of the women who would be seriously inconvenienced by protest action.

While I understand the case was decided on fact rather than law and doesn't in itself set a precedent, it certainly gives a kind of public encouragement to righteous protesters of all stripes. And in that sort of environment, the bigger your mob, the more you rule. It's going to be the weakest, most marginalised groups who are the most disadvantaged.Troublenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-29197108890515184792010-03-18T19:46:38.526+13:002010-03-18T19:46:38.526+13:00Right to Life have tried and failed to use this de...Right to Life have tried and failed to use this defense before. Given the prevailing opinion on abortion in this country I think getting eleven out of twelve jury member sto agree is unlikely, particularly in a location where abortions are performed.Maiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17212711843307060731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-62044498490168422082010-03-18T14:16:19.787+13:002010-03-18T14:16:19.787+13:00Quite. I'd be bloody outraged if they'd gotten away with damaging an abortion clinic on those grounds (honest belief that they were saving lives).Troublenoreply@blogger.com
