I bought my Jumpstreet DVDs from www.trademe.co.nz, but I'm sure other auction sites would have them too.

80s movies I remember being disturbingly misogynistic are 'Romancing the Stone" (I think that was it) and other ones of that genre where there was a heroic adventurer-type bloke and a woman who needed to be saved/put in her place/both. In one such movie, the bloke (Tom Selleck) in this case hit his female companion in the face to demonstrate to the 'natives' he was with that he respected their custom of not putting up with uppity women. It was clearly a shitty contrived scenario to allow viewers to enjoy seeing a man hit a woman. WTF?

I seem to remember Susan Faludi writing about this sort of stuff, although I can't remember the details.Annahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06076244041878300351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-19289980299115132532009-01-24T00:26:00.000+13:002009-01-24T00:26:00.000+13:00We've been watching our way through the X-files, r...We've been watching our way through the X-files, rolling our eyes at how often Scully gets hurt and has to be rescued by Mulder, lol. My favourite eye-roller though was the episode where Mulder has been knocked unconscious all night but then, after a bandage is applied the next morning, drives the car with the healthy Scully as passenger - can't have a man driven by a woman can we!Keelyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17870315283612487604noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-46047975964042792422009-01-23T21:48:00.000+13:002009-01-23T21:48:00.000+13:00hi! amazing idea to bought them, can you REC some ...hi! amazing idea to bought them, can you REC some episodes and upload it in internet?? well here in Spain I can't find the serie .... :( it'll be great if you doo ;) my msn or e-mail is: deppismylife@hotmail.com

xoxo!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-33587113547230850312009-01-23T16:08:00.000+13:002009-01-23T16:08:00.000+13:00Just watched "Desperately Seeking Susan" that's st...Just watched "Desperately Seeking Susan" that's still a good movie.Muerkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00983180202172098977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8770341086445997547.post-90866850057708958162009-01-23T15:17:00.000+13:002009-01-23T15:17:00.000+13:00Remember when Dan Quail went nuts at Murphy Brown ...Remember when Dan Quail went nuts at Murphy Brown for having a child out of wedlock? What a dick. MB was one of very few programmes I can remember that challenged the moral concensus in those days - and it was quite a big deal. The way Patrick treats Baby, then later has the gall to tell others not to leave her in the corner totally gets my goat.

As for 'naked and funny' late nights on Sky, it is neither fully naked, nor even half funny, but it does make me wonder if things were really that bad back in the Jump St days. At least we had Murphy Brown!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
