I'm sorry, but I'm calling complete BS on all of you. ;) There is nothing there that gives you any certainty one way or another without looking under the nappy.
SeƱor Mojito says boy, comparing the cheery pout to Mick Jagger, whereas I say girl, given that the bub's curious expression reminds me of photos of myself at that age.
Oh I know, I know, it's just so unmaternal of me to speak of my ickky revulsion towards small smelly pink bald creatures in the presence of a clucking audience who find them so adorable... but FWIW my 1st instinct was to say boy (before I read the poster is Deb and I already know she has 3 grrrls hehe)
Can we have some cat photo blog posts next please? Cos my l'il guy Moby and I miss that sweetie Ms Mara and I/S still refuses to share his feline fotos with us despite years of dares :P
Time to 'fess up. That's my daughter, which was why I liked what Megan and Maia had to say.... She is, of course, one of the three most beautiful children in the world.
I really wasn't sure. To be honest I tend to be a bit clueless about this stuff, and I generally don't find really young babies all that cute, unless I know them and can thus see their personality in the picture. I never got clucky. Actually, I still don't now I have a kid myself.
Thanks for the experiment Deborah, v interesting!
How many people were worried that guessing incorrectly might cause offence?
Hmmm... I hadn't thought that people might be worried about causing offence. Just for the record, I wasn't offended by any of the 'boy'or 'intersex' guesses; most babies look gender neutral, especially in a static photo, as truth seeker said.
Very interesting. I wonder if I guessed 'boy' because most of the babies I know at the moment are boys? (our playcentre had a bit of a baby boom last year with five large baby boys born within 6 weeks)

I'm going to say girl
My daughter says boy though because "green is for boys"
Don't keep us in suspense too long!
You have to see the movement. A static image is only a fraction of the story. ;-)
girl
Girl
I can't tell (I'm terrible at that), but s/he is hellishly cute.
I don't know. But then, I prefer to call babies "it" anyway - much to the consternation of their parents.
My six year old son and I both say boy but neither of us could say why we think that.

Or maybe I'm just too much of a guy to tell. ;)

I say girl, but it would take movement and other cues for me to be sure.
I and the significant other call girl.
If I said that I like Megan's comment the best, would that give you a hint?
I'm with Megan and 'cute'.
Yeh, ditto to what I/S said :D

Does it reflect on me badly as a mother that I have no idea whatsoever?
is the child intersex?
Ya can't tell. You never can. Babies are confusing like that.
But not a bad lookin' kiddo anyway ;)

And Z, I like cat blogging too.

I wasn't offended by the 'girl' guesses either.
Actually that's why I thought girl since I knew you had three of them!
