Pundit's Election Quiz

It took me a little while to get my head around how to answer this quiz, but Pundit has put together a decidedly nifty tool for assessing your policy priorities against the various parliamentary parties.

I got 86% compatibility with the Greens (which was hardly a surprise). Progressives and Labour were my second and third-ranked matches. I suspect if they covered non-parliamentary parties the Alliance would have been in my top three.

And there's a handy option to discover how you match up with any of the parties outside your top trio. I was a bit stunned to discover I am apparently in 100% agreement with Act in regard to Economy and Taxes. Hmmmm, I'm not sure that's a fair representation of my position (or theirs), although I did strongly support a tax free bracket at the bottom end of the income scale.

What did others get?

It's surprising how many people on the right at the moment support the lower-income tax free bracket. The big difference is that they don't want to pay for it by raising taxes on the rich, but by cutting services.

Oh dear: Progressive, Green, NZ First

I got Green, Progressive, Labour, but my agreement with the Greens was a relatively low 66% mostly due to my disagreement with them on things like the NZ Super Fund and Immigration. I'm such a unique snowflake...

I got 89% Green yesterday - really no surprise there. Seemed to me like quite a handy tool for strategic voting; had I come in with a tiny party first, I'd have been considering whether the second or third match might have made a better option for party vote.

I was surprised yesterday watching Alt TV's interview with Winston Peters how much I actually agreed with in terms of policy. I disagree vehemently with his take on free trade deals and immigration, but everything else worked for me.

i got 83% for labour, not that surprising seeing as I am a labour party member,

I got Green as well, which is unsurprising given the options but not of much interest given that the two parties I will be voting for - and the only other one I'd consider voting for - are outside parliament.

I have to say that this was a pretty decent quiz, with relatively straightforward questions and lacking a lot of the ambiguity or forcing you to choose between two really bad options that a lot of these type of quizzes have.)

Yes, I'm still bitter about a McCain vs Obama quiz...

I did this quiz too, and also got 89% Green. Great, but I am standing for the Alliance, who are not included! So anyone who gets Green first should check out the Alliance. Yep. I am a bit disappointed in the pundit guys for excluding us.

I agree Sarah, it is disappointing the extreme focus on the parliamentary parties to the exclusion of any others. It wouldn't be that hard to add them in would it? Easy for me to say I guess, I'm not doing the work ;-)
