Here we go
School principal allegedly tells former student" "I want to take you home and f*** you."
He then gives the girl in question some hush money which the Board of Trustees doesn't seem to think it is an issue to talk with to the pesky ERO officers because after all he is, in his own words,
"a normal red-blooded male who has done things that I've regretted over the years. I've made mistakes, just the same as everybody else."

Sometimes it's hard to know what to think about these stories, lacking the full picture and all. This is not one of these times: the red blooded male comment and the other quote from the BOT chair, to the effect that they didn't think the complaints ought to be reported to ERO "because things were going so well at the school" are beyond appalling.

mmmm....very dodgey.
It's a pretty rank excuse for pretty rank behaviour - but I'd be surprised if anyone bought it, if only because of the pastoral care relationship which is supposed to exist between a school and pupils.
However, the same excuse is used with some success in other contexts. I'm thinking of the girl raped by the English rugby players, and the 'What did she expect?' response from the public.
It is shocking that this man should still be in his position after all this has gone on in 'his' school. And I guess that Kawerau people don't have a lot of choices of where to send their kids either. He speaks (or rather, he is quoted) like a man with *very* bad boundaries, and the BOT sounds like it is ducking its responsibilities to the children in its area.
The Herald strikes again today with the following headline: Drug tainted principal gets backing from town mayor.
Drug tainted. Because clearly the worst thing he had done was smoking a joint with a student, not propositioning another for sex and paying to hush it up.
