International Women's Day

Please feel free to share here any events you know of for tomorrow, March 8th, which celebrate or in some way mark International Women's Day for 2012.  The theme this year is apparently "Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures." 

Here's a few to start you off, all on March 8th unless otherwise stated:

WELLINGTON:
Wellington Women Walk for Peace - starting at the Beehive at 12.30pm and finishing at Civic Square around 1.30pm www.women4peace.weebly.com or on Facebook here.

UN Women and the Zonta Club of Wellington are holding a breakfast at Parliament with the Minster of Women's Affairs hosting and a keynote from the Mexican Ambassador to NZ, Leonora Rueda.

CTU Women's Council are focusing on domestic workers, and holding a gathering on Level 7 of Education House, 178 Willis St, at 4.30pm.


AUCKLAND:
National Council of Women's Auckland Branch and Zonta Club of Auckland celebrate at the Suffrage Memorial in Khartoum Pl at 12.30pm, on Facebook here.

March 9th - The Red Flag Social Club, organised by the Working Women's Resource Centre, is having a talk from Eileen Brown, of UnionAID, on her work on the Thai Burma border helping Burmese migrants to obtain skills.  At Trades Hall, 149 Great North Rd, Grey Lynn, from 5.30pm.

Hello, we're doing a month of stuff to celebrate this year's International Women's Day, from Christchurch, the birthplace of the suffrage movement :)
