Abortion services in Southland

This post is a little late, but I thought it was important to do what ALRANZ has asked and publicise what's been happening in Southland with regard to abortion services. A bit over a month ago, Southern DHB announced it would soon be providing abortion services at Southland Hospital in Invercargill. ALRANZ was delighted to hear this, as Southland is one of five regions in NZ which currently has no abortion services (along with Tasman, West Coast, Manawatu and Bay of Plenty). So Southland women seeking abortion have had to travel to Dunedin or Christchurch.
Since this announcement, says ALRANZ, "the DHB has come under attack from the antis, in terms of both emotive and inaccurate op-ed pieces in the local papers and protests outside Southland hospital and Dunedin hospital."
There's a full post about it here and ALRANZ is asking for support:

"If you’d like to write to the Southland Times, email your letter to: Usual rules apply: 250 words or under (shorter more likely to run usually), and include name, address and phone. If you’d like to take any other action or live in the area and would like to make contact with other pro-choice supporters, email us at"

Thanks for the support. Anti-choice letters seem to be flooding in to the Southland Times and local paper The Eye, so it"s great to have a flow of pro-choice ones too.
