If you haven't seen Julia Gillard's epic denunciation of Tony Abbott's sexism and misogyny in the Australian Parliament, watch it here:
Julia
Gillard’s speech in the Australian House of Representatives, calling Tony Abbott
out as a misogynist..
For good NZ comment, see Deborah's post on A Bee of A Certain Age. her speech also features prominently on the US blog Feministing.com.

Thanks for the link love, Anne. It's a great speech from Gillard.
Freakin' awesome stuff! I've also read some of the critics of Gillard's speech but I didn't find they diminished the power of her words, in my mind they just reinforced her (but then I'm biased).
Meanwhile in the UK similar attitudes towards women are being openly written about... http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/oct/12/tories-cant-win-without-women
It's a great speech, obviously genuinely felt, and it is great to see her wipe that smirk off Tony Abbot's face. Any woman would cheer at that. It is a pity that at the same time Julia Gillard's is about to slash benefits for single mothers by as much as $A 140 per week (about $NZ 170!!). If anything is misogynist this is! Maybe Julia Gillard too needs to look in the mirror!
