A question that needs to be asked..

Outside of my outburst about the coverage of rape trials I have been silent about the trial of Liam Reed.

However today I read something that made my skin crawl.

It can now be revealed that Reid was acquitted in 2002 of abducting, raping and attempting to kill a woman by hanging her with a phone cable. Reid said the acts were consensual.

At the risk of sound like a clone of the sensible sentencing trust I have to ask are our laws and investiations into rape so bad that this man was able to acquitted for similar charges to the ones he was found guilty of today?
