More laydeez in Blogland

The Dragon's Pen (found via Madeleine's Mothers' Day post)
Jasmine Freemantle expelled from the Workers Party (camou flap cap tipped to Kiwiblog), which starts out with a huge post that in part covers allegations of misogyny within the Workers Party.

That whole Workers Party/Freemantle thing is just sooo weird.

It certainly is.

Not least - if VUWSA has run deficits 5/8 years, why are they spending $12 million on renovating the quad?

And if this is how they act, is it any wonder they had trouble getting quorum to support it?

I think the only claim that doesn't really seem to stack up here is the misogynist one - after all, given that almost all the people directly involved in her expulsion seem to be women...

It'd be great if it weren't the case, but sadly women are all too capable of exhibiting misogynist behaviour.

I'm not sure she was saying that misogyny has contributed to her dismissal - rather that it's made her tenure in the WP much more difficult (esp. when it came to things like caring for her son.) To be honest it sounds like she's well shot of it to me. JMO.

I agree Tui. It seems like as a mother and woman it would have been too difficult for her to even stay in the workers party. I'm surprised that in those conditions she was able to last as long. Their ideology obviously isn't a reality for women in their party.

VSM will fix that problem up.

Yes, they are. And after witnessing the appalling way Freemantle treated the women on her executive and on the Workers Party, I would say that her behaviour reflects that of a closeted misogynist. Of course, she hasn't included her bullying and intimidation tactics of her 'fellow' feminists in her near-9000-word work of fiction.
