It's now been two years since The Hand Mirror launched publicly, on 18th March 2008.
This will be our 1826th post. I lost count of the number of comments a long time ago, but I can tell you that we recently cracked 400,000 hits on the trusty Statcounter.
Thanks so much to everyone who helps to make The Hand Mirror work; writers, readers, guest posters, those who give us valuable link oxygen from their own spaces, and the people well behind the scenes who support me and the other bloggers to keep doing what we do. If you've ever taken part in one of the collective actions we've promoted, or sent us a URL for an interesting article, or joined our Facebook group, or come to a Hand Mixer,* or read a post, or argued with a mate about something we've raised, you've helped, and you are part of this, so thank you so much.
* Next Auckland brunch version is Saturday 27th March at The Library Cafe in Onehunga :-)

Huge congratulations! As a very recent new contributor I'm allowed to say that! I was so delighted to discover THM and find that despite all those false and malicious rumours to the contrary, feminism is very much alive and well and all over the place in Aotearoa. Arhanui to everyone who set it up and keep it going.
Congratulations! Many happy returns of the day :) You're doing great work!
two years of blogging is a fantastic achievement!
its very brave to put ourselves out there, to reveal truths and tell our stories, and be unrelenting.
parts of the blogosphere are so aggresive and point-scorey. there are blogs where i just don't bother reading the comments anymore as it leaves me in despair.
this is also unpaid. and readers have expectations. that you have stayed the course is worthy or so much more than the virtual cupcakes and champagne i am sending you.
congratulations!
Thanks THM, and Happy Birthday! It's been wonderful to have a New Zealand perspective.
All the THM writers are awesome for putting so much time and energy into this blog. I really really appreciate it... and know everyone else who is geekily and feministily inclined does too.
xox
P.S. Can't make brunch on 27th but will be there next time!
it's been wonderful to be part of this blog. i love the connections i've made, the arguments and discussions that have broadened my mind and showed me a new way of looking at things, the good humour and the solid strength of everyone who is part of the hand mirror in whatever capacity. thanks for being here and supporting what we do. just wish i could be as prolific and consistent as julie, who is definitely one of the most wonderful things on the planet!
Congratulations on your birthday and the quality of your posts.
Happy Birthday! Thank you so much to all the bloggers for the work you do, you are inspirational and have influenced me a lot since I'm a teenager and have been reading this blog for a long time now =)
