Michael Laws acts like an idiot. Again.

Apparently Michael Laws has been ticketed for driving with a young child unrestrained in his car. It appears the child was on the lap of another adult, in the front passenger seat, and that Mr Laws may have remonstrated with the police officer who pulled him over, claiming that due to "special circumstances" he shouldn't get a ticket. These circumstances that were so special were that the child in question was apparently ill and being comforted by the adult holding them.

The thing is though that gravity and all that other pesky physics stuff doesn't respect "special circumstances". Any sci-fi geek knows that ye cannae change the laws of physics. I'd hope that Mayor Laws knows this too, deep down.

Or perhaps he thinks that his Mayoral Radio Host Super Powers mean that he can actually alter the physical nature of the universe. Although of course because he's a responsible super hero, and would never abuse his super powers, he'll only exert them in "special circumstances".

Whatevs.

I loathe Laws so much. I have no idea how he's in the position he is in. What kind of moron would vote for a moron like Laws. Seriously. What the fuck is going on. He's been elected TWICE. TWICE. WHY?? WHY??

What the fuck is going on with the people in Whanganui who are voting for him??? I just fsdhsjhgsuighknvlk...Too much rage. Cannot continue.

I know how painful it is to have a distressed child. You sit next to them in the backseat so that you can comfort them, perhaps giving a few sideways hugs.

While I am fairly intelligent, I'm not exactly a genius. Why did this not occur to Michael Laws?

What Boganette said. With similar amounts of loathing.

You can debate the rights or wrongs of the man but.... why are the police informing The Herald that Laws received a minor traffic ticket?

Maybe the Police Officer was from a farming background and had listened to Laws recently on Radio Live lambasting the entire rural community because another child had been killed riding a four-wheeler. Laws was very angry at the way farmers put their children at risk.....

Maybe if Laws wasn't such a fame-whoring wankstain nobody would have felt the need to leak the information. He's a judgemental racist jerkoff who is constantly airing his dirty laundry in public. He's just getting a taste of his own medicine now. You can't pick and choose media attention. If he uses his own family for media attention (like he did when his daughter was sick) then he shouldn't be surprised when he is publically outed for putting a child in danger.

I had to call an ambulance for my son at easter, it was late at night and he couldnt breathe, a factor in that was that by going in an ambulance I could cuddle him etc and keep him from being further distressed as he would have been in our car in his seat by himself as I didnt have any other adult to come with me hubby had to stay look after the other 3....

I am with anonymous, you sit with them if possible, you keep them as safe as you can while staying within the bounds of the law.... that man is just an idiot

I think there is a story in how this got to the media. But that's not what this blog post is about. It's about the stupidity, and as other's have pointed out hypocrisy, of Michael Laws thinking that he is somehow above the law.

I have some sympathy for civil disobedience, especially when it comes to odd laws that frustrate people and seem nonsensical in certain circumstances. Having to put your child in a car seat is not one of those laws though.

Seems Laws got a serve from some of his talkback mates on this one.
