- Violet shares her weekend with us in Mothers Day weekend - against all odds.
- Deborah's Mother's Day post includes pics of the cute cards her daughters made her.
- I'm not sure this is actually an official Mothers' Day post from Cactus Kate, but she posted it on Sunday and it's about some Canadian research on how much the work stay-at-home mums do is worth.
- Jannelle blogs about her family's last 'hurrah' to autumn, complete with pics.
- littlegemsession reflects on the birth of Mr C, and her approach to being a mum.
- Nikki starts out telling us about her hungover Mothers' Day but ends up explaining her Saturday night.
- Martha of Wanda Harland fame chronicles her splendid day. (added Tues am)
- Anjum, after writing about Key's economic plan, turns her attention to the tension she feels between feeling that mothering should be recognised every day and liking the fact that Mothers' Day at least ensures her daughters get the opportunity to show their love. (added Wed am)
And as an added bonus, here's a few posts from over the oceans:
- Save The Children's Mothers' Day report card on the best and worst countries to be a mum (curtsy: Bitch PhD)
- Sybil Vane writes about the problems with associating Mothers' Day presents with releasing women from domestic labour and/or "pampering", as well as covering some of the history of the day and its feminist roots.
- bluemilk regales us with tales of her feminist mothers' group discussion about something called the Slacker Mum Movement.

Yesterday was my first Mothers' Day with actual progeny.* At some point I'm going to write something about it. But for now let's just go with; it was nice.* For years the cat has got both of us small silly gifts on Mothers' and Fathers' Day, and for birthdays and Xmas, but I've never truly felt like I'm her actual mother. Something to do with the fact she is furry all over, has a tail, and can only communicate through hard looks and soft meows.

A nice bunch of links once again (and I'm not counting my own)!
Sybil Vane's post was quite interesting, though I still reckon a day of pampering and freedom from household chores is my top pick of Mothers Day presents. Either that, or a massive shoes voucher.
Thank you! And a very interesting group of links.
