disclaimer

yeah, i'm reproducing anita's disclaimer thingy here as well, because i love it & because it applies equally to our posters and commentors:

On this blog it is likely that, from time to time, the authors and commenters will criticise government policy, speeches, and political tactics.

We would like to reassert that this is neither explicit nor implicit consent to release any private information about the authors or commenters that is held by any government agency, minister’s office, local government organisation, political party, or any other person, organisation or agency.
For the purposes of clarification this non-consent includes, but is not limited to, the following information:

  • benefit status or history;
  • family status or history;
  • ACC status or history;
  • health status or history – including information held by DHBs, PHOs, central government agencies and private providers whether directly or indirectly contracted by the state;
  • interactions with justice or law enforcement – including complaints, interviews, interactions, documents supplied;
  • employment status or history;
  • any grants applied for or received; and
  • tax payments, status or history.
In addition we would like to restate that posting or commenting here does not give implicit or explicit consent for any private information held about any author or commenter to be used for a purpose other than the purpose for which is was supplied. This non-consent includes, but is not limited to, the reuse of personal information for political purposes.

and i also love this, and this, and this. enjoy!

Good post. I hope that when in 2007 David Benson Pope released the EXACT same figures about Natasha that you were equally as angry.

Right?

Bravo Anita!!!! Time to stop the one upmanship and move on. This issue surpasses political gain and scoring. That we even have to have such a declaration made is tragic but so be it. If this is what is needed to bring back some decency and fair play to democracy let this creed be adopted by all

as mentioned by boganette on the other thread you left this comment on, mr benson-pope had permission from the person concerned. see the difference, anon no 1?

And yet you are not angry about Helen Clark leaking figures to the press gallery or the misuse of information by ministers to bully Erin Leigh.

DBP may have had permission, but at least Bennett was honest that she did it unlike the dirty underhanded ways Helen did. Please tell me you are equally as outraged...

Right?

anon, perhaps you can't read. this post isn't about helen clark, it's about paula bennett's deliberate breaking of the law to intimidate beneficiaries. if you think that mistakes were made regarding erin leigh, then you should be equally appalled by paula bennett's behaviour. yet somehow you defend her while attacking the other. boring.

I'm unhappy about both. But I don't remember you EVER nor this blog NEVER getting upset about anything the Govt did until National got back into power.

Faux outrage. It's so hypocritical. Yawn. Disagree all you like but your silence last time was deafening.

aside from the appalling grammar anon, all you've shown is that you haven't read the blog.

I have lurked for ages Stargazer. Get off the grass... this blog would rather set itself on fire for Labour than defend a National Govt or policy.

You're insulting the intelligence of your readers if you say that you're not biased.

sorry, you haven't read much then. i see you're following the trusted tactic of repeating a lie often in the hope that someone will believe it.

also, the previous government was putting in place policies that were extremely beneficial to women, such as paid parental leave, working for families, 20 hours free ECE, interest-free student loans, etc etc. they weren't continually making cuts to schemes that helped women out of poverty. so yes, there wasn't nearly as much to complain about but yes, bloggers here did call the previous government to account when they felt the need. you need to spend a bit more time reading.
